Jockey A. Andrews commented that he had a good break from the Gates and had settled his mount in 4th or 5th position as he was instructed and according to the prerace discussion on the running of the race, the Trainer did not want him to chase the other fast horses – HENRY TUDOR, MAC ‘N SCAR and CAPTAINOFTHESEA – which were suitable to the race distance. He was placed behind CHARLESTON HERO and he was satisfied with his position. Between the 600 and the 400 metres, he was behind CHARLESTON HERO and on the outside had CARLAS MAMBO which was placed a neck ahead of his horse alongside him and he had no place to ride out his mount. Near 300 metres, he had the opportunity to ride his horse once CARLAS MAMBO weakened and then rode out. In the straight, his mount was hanging inwards and he had to pull his mount out away from MAC ‘N SCAR and his mount again hung inwards. 7. Whilst noting the explanation of the Jockey, he has been cautioned for failing to be more vigorous on his mount. Veterinary Surgeon’s Reports. 1. SIR BERNADINI – Not striding out.
