At the start, ROCHESTER (R K Chumun) jumped out awkwardly. MIDNIGHT ORACLE (K Ramsamy) and KALI’S CHAMP (N Marday) were slowly away. 3. MIDNIGHT ORACLE (B Jacobson) was slow to begin and was then outpaced. 4. Near the 800 metres, BELLS APOSTLE (T Juglall) was checked as MIDNIGHT MESSENGER (K Teetan) shifted in. After questioning both the Riders, Apprentice K. Teetan (MIDNIGHT MESSENGER) was found guilty of contravention of Rule 208(d) of the Rules of Racing. The Apprentice subsequently signed an Admission of Guilt in that, he failed to take every possible and all necessary steps to ensure that his horse, MIDNIGHT MESSENGER, did not interfere with another horse and consequently, a fine of Rs. 3000 was imposed on him. 4. Passing 1300m, THE GYPSY KING (M Sonaram) was steadied off the heels of BELLS APOSTLE (T Juglall). 5. THE RIGHT STUFF (A Roy) raced wide through out the race. 6. Jockey G D Aucharuz (SEOUL) reported that his horse was restless in the stall, fly jumped as the start was affected and then was not striding out and further hung-in in the straight. 3. Approaching 1300m, SEOUL (GD Aucharuz) was steadied when tightened for room as BARAK LAVAN (J Allyhosain) shifted in and went across the former. 4. CRACKON (J Bardottier) trailed the field from about 600m. 5. Jockey B Jacobson (SIR CAPERS) was questioned as to why he did not urge his horse any time sooner than he actually did near 500m. The explanation of the Jockey, that his instructions were not to go wide at the home turn and that he was asked to wait for the gaps to open on the inside and therefore, he had waited a bit longer while coming into the straight, which was noted. 5. Jockey M P De Oliveira (STREET BYTE) has been issued with a reprimand for a contravention of Rule 147 (6) (a) (i), in that, he has used the whip in consecutive strides in the straight. Leaving the 1300m, PATROL OFFICER (J De Souza) was steadied off the heels of TRIPLE FATE LINE (A L Da Silva). 4. TRIPLE FATE LINE (A L Da Silva) lugged-out in the straight. 5. Jockey J Allyhosain (UNDERCOVER AGENT) was questioned with regard to his riding in the straight when he was observed to have persisted with the use of whip in his right hand as his horse was shifting ground outwards and in the concluding stages of the race made contact with PATROL OFFICER (J De Souza). After questioning, Jockey J Allyhosain was issued with a severe reprimand for the breach of Rule 208 (d), in that, he failed to take every possible and all necessary steps to ensure that his horse, UNDERCOVER AGENT, did not interfere with another horse in the race. At the start, KAYDENS PRIDE (M Sonaram) jumped awkwardly outwards, causing GIMMETHERAIN (A Andrews) to shift out and at the same time MOSCHINO (D Bheekary) jumped awkwardly inwards due to which ROYAL ITALIAN (B Fayd’herbe) was tightened and held up. 3. After being straightened from the awkward jump out at the start, KAYDENS PRIDE (M Sonaram) had its head held high. 4. Shortly after the start, SIX DEGREES (T Juglall) shifted out on to WATCH ME DAD (J De Souza) who in turn went out on to JET STREAM (J Da Silva) who caused KAYDENS PRIDE (M Sonaram) to shift out. An enquiry has been initiated in to the interference. 5. Near 1365m, GIMMETHERAIN (A Andrews) shifted inwards on the inside of BONNIE PRINCE (A L Da Silva) and in doing so caused KAYDENS PRIDE (M Sonaram) to be strongly steadied. An enquiry has been initiated in to the interference. 6. Jockey B Fayd’herbe (ROYAL ITALIAN) reported that his horse under-raced. 7. Jockey J De Souza (WATCH ME DAD) reported that his horse over-raced during the race. 8. BONNIE PRINCE (A L Da Silva) travelled wide without cover in the middle stages of the race. Rescheduled time: 16hr45 Starting time: 16hr47.39 Stewards’ Reports 1. On request from the Horse Racing Organiser, the race was rescheduled at 16hr45. 2. Jockey M Sonaram (AFDEEK) was dislodged on the way to the start and was declared unfit to ride by the medical doctor. As such, AFDEEK (M Sonaram) was withdrawn at 16h44. A deduction of 10 cents per 6 rupee has been affected on the face value of the ticket. 3. Near 600 metres, Jockey A Andrews (ZO LUCKY) brushed the rails when tightened for room while racing on the inside of EMBLEM OF HOPE (A L Da Silva). 4. BACKPACKER (A Boutanive) travelled wide during most part of the race. 5. A review in the start of the race held as it was observed that stall 7 of QUATRO FIVE SIX (J De Souza) opened prematurely as compared to the others. After having interviewed Trainer S Mahadia and Jockey J De Souza and having viewed the start of the race repeatedly, the Stewards were of the opinion that the said stall opened a fraction earlier than the others but this had not given any advantage to QUATRO FIVE SIX (J De Souza) in any way. Also, it was the horse’s own behaviour wherein the horse had charged at the gate which caused the gate to open prematurely and then was unsettled in its stall and was slowly out of the gates. In view of the foregoing, the Stewards deemed QUATRO FIVE SIX (J De Souza) to be a runner. 6. In view of the unacceptable behaviour of QUATRO FIVE SIX (J De Souza), the horse has been suspended for 07 days after which the horse will be required to pass a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. 7. While rounding the bend at 600m, EMBLEM OF HOPE (A L Da Silva) leaned in due to which ZO LUCKY (A Andrews) was tightened on to the rails as a result the right leg of Jockey A Andrews brushed the rails and ZO LUCKY was steadied and dropped back and in doing so Jockey A Andrews felt that his horse was clipped by TORO BRAVO (GD Aucharuz) who was following and thereafter ZO LUCKY did not travel well. And in the straight, Jockey A Andrews felt his horse to be uncomfortable and was changing legs, therefore he had stopped riding. Veterinary Surgeon’s Reports 1. ZO LUCKY – no abnormalities detected.
