Prior to the commencement of this race, Trainer A Sewdyal (HIGH VOLTAGE) advised the Stewards that contrary to the recent racing pattern of this horse, it was his instructions, if possible, for this runner to race in a handy position behind the speed and for this gelding to be ridden out from the 300m. The Stewards noted the instructions for this runner and advised the public of the change of tactics prior to the commencement of the race. 2. Jockey B Sooful was struck on the face when NEW ABBEY became fractious in the stalls. 3. From draw 6, GIRATORIO (K Ramsamy) was ridden in order to obtain a forward position. However, after TICKET TO CAIRO (N S Batchameah) and TRIPOD (N Teeha) showed superior speed, this gelding was caught wide for the remainder of the race. 4. Jockey G D Aucharuz appeared before the Stewards and was questioned regarding his riding of TROJAN QUEST in this race. In this regard, Jockey G D Aucharuz’s attention was drawn specifically to his lack of intent after committing for the first 200m in the back stretch. 5. Jockey G D Aucharuz explained that he had intended to sit in a forward position however, after 3 horses on his inside showed superior speed, he was wide in the early running. When questioned regarding whether it was possible for him to commit beyond the first 200m to race around GIRATORIO (K Ramsamy), he explained that he did not want to risk being caught wide so rather elected to restrain and take cover behind runners. The Stewards noted the explanation of Jockey G D Aucharuz. 6. TICKET TO CAIRO (N S Batchameah) was hanging out in the straight and shifted out away from the whip on multiple occasions from the 200m. An inquiry has been opened into Apprentice N S Batchameah’s riding in the concluding stages. 7. Jockey O Sola appeared before the Stewards and was questioned regarding his decision to race wide throughout the early and middle stages of the race. In this regard, Jockey O Sola explained that SERGEANT YORK had shown a tendency to hang out in the running. He further explained that despite his attempts to correct his mount with the hands, SERGEANT YORK failed to negotiate the turns and raced wide in the running. 8.The Stewards noted the explanation of Jockey O Sola however reminded him of his obligation to not cover unnecessary ground in races. Additionally, Jockey O Sola’s attention was drawn to his unacceptable use of the whip down SERGEANT YORK’s right shoulder whilst the horse was hanging out on the turn. 9. In view of the performance of NEW ABBEY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.

EAGLES VISION (N S Batchameah) was caught wide and raced without cover throughout. 4. An Inquiry will be opened into Apprentice N S Batchameah’s whip use on EAGLES VISION in this race. 5. OVERDOSE (B Deenath) raced wide between the 500m and 300m. In view of the performance of this gelding, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 6. At the 250m, XENON (R Joorawon) had to ease severely when awkwardly placed on the inside of ENIGMA CODE (B Fayd’herbe) which rolled in after sitting outside the leader from the jump and commencing to give ground to the field from the 400m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine ENIGMA CODE. 7. At the 200m, DIGITAL FORTRESS (B Jacobson) had to ease when racing onto the heels of SECRET CIRCLE (A Andrews). Jockey B Jacobson appeared before the Stewards and was advised to be more decisive when riding in races so as to ensure there are fewer such occurrences in future. Veterinary Surgeon Reported 1. Sooful) lost one length. Stewards Reports 1. At the 1700m, ROYAL ITALIAN (B Fayd’herbe) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of LUNAFACATION (J de Souza) which shifted in. An Inquiry will be opened into this incident. 2. At the 1650m, KAYDENS PRIDE (S Rama) clipped the heels of ROYAL ITALIAN (B Fayd’herbe) which resulted in Jockey S Rama becoming severely unbalanced. Thereafter, KAYDENS PRIDE elected to race around the field at the 800m and to the front at the 600m. 3. In the concluding stages, LUNAFACATION (J De Souza) was brushed out by KAYDENS PRIDE (S Rama) which shifted out away from the whip when hanging out. 4. A race review was called into this incident which was followed by an objection being lodged by Mr. S Mahadia, the Trainer of the second placed horse LUNAFACATION (J De Souza) against the first placed horse KAYDENS PRIDE (S Rama) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. 5. After hearing the evidence in this matter which included that of the Trainers and Riders of their respective horses, the Stewards overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Stewards took into consideration the distance between the horses at the finish (0.9L), the extent of interference and that, from a review of the footage it could not be established that, but for the aforementioned interference LUNAFACATION would have finished ahead of KAYDENS PRIDE. Therefore, the Stewards overruled the objection and allowed the Judges’ result to stand. 6. Jockey S Rama signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 208(f) in that he used his whip in his right hand when KAYDENS PRIDE had already indicated it was hanging out. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of Rs 5,000 was imposed. 7. In view of the performance of STAGEWORLD (B Fayd’herbe), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 8. Approaching the 300m, CASANOVA KING (A Andrews) which shifted out to commence its run, was bumped out by CARLTON HEIGHTS (J Da Silva) which shifted out to avoid the heels of the tiring RED ROCK CANYON (O Sola). As a consequence of this incident, CASANOVA KING (A Andrews) and CARLTON HEIGHTS (J Da Silva) raced wide into the straight. 5. In the concluding stages, BELLS APOSTLE (M Chinapiel) was briefly inconvenienced when showing an inclination to hang in onto the heels of MASTER MARINER (B Fayd’herbe). 6. In view of the Starting Report, the starting stall certificate for STRAIGHT (N Marday) has been withdrawn. This gelding has been suspended by the Stewards for seven days after which, it will be required to complete a jump out in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. (Suspension dates: 14-20 August 2022) 2. At the 900m, COUP FOR LUTE (G D Aucharuz) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of GANG LEADER (J Da Silva) which was inclined to lay in. In assessing this incident, the Stewards held the view that the configuration of the false rail from the starting stalls to the 900m had played a contributing role in this incident. Accordingly, no further action was taken against the Riders however, the Starter, Ravi Rawa, was called before the Stewards and advised to correct this occurrence urgently. 3. Jockey G D Aucharuz appeared before the Stewards and was questioned regarding his decision to shift out and race wide on the course from the 500m. In this regard, he explained that, COUP FOR LUTE (G D Aucharuz) had commenced to over race leaving the 500m, therefore, rather than break this gelding’s momentum in a sprint race, he elected to stride around the field from the 500m. 4. The Stewards noted the explanation of Jockey G D Aucharuz however, drew his attention to the fact that the horse which he was positioned behind at the 500m, NINOTTO (N S. Batchameah) had in fact finished ahead of him and the Stewards questioned why it was not more reasonable for Jockey G D Aucharuz to take cover behind runners till the 300m and then shifted out. Jockey G D Aucharuz reiterated that he was of the opinion that fighting COUP FOR LUTE (G D Aucharuz) at the 500m and staying in would have been more detrimental than if he raced wide. The Stewards have adjourned to review the footage of this race. 5. Jockey G D Aucharuz was also advised against the practice of striking his mounts with the whip more than once on consecutive strides. 6. Jockey M P De Oliveira signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 147(6)(a)(i) in that he struck the horse CHRISTMAS BAY with his whip more than once on consecutive strides in the running. In assessing the apparent improved performance of SAND PATH (M P De Oliveira) in this race, the Stewards reviewed the previous two runs of this gelding. In this regard, it was established that, in its last run (10 July 2022) after an awkward jump, SAND PATH raced wide throughout the running which undoubtedly contributed to its poor performance and in its run prior (25 June 2022), this gelding hung out continually and Trainer C Daby was cautioned by the Stewards with regard to this horse’s racing manners. Consequently, the Stewards elected not to question Trainer C Daby regarding the performance of SAND PATH in this race as, a review of this gelding’s previous runs illustrate the reasons for the previous two performances. 6.
