1.  In view of the Starting Report, the starting stall certificate for BON VIVEUR (R K Chumun) has been withdrawn. This gelding has been suspended by the Stewards for seven days after which, it will be required to complete a jump out in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. (Suspension dates: 21-27 August 2022)
2. Jockey J Allyhosain appeared before the Stewards and was questioned regarding his riding of HAPPY AND GLORIOUS. In this regard, his attention was specifically drawn to his positioning of HAPPY AND GLORIOUS at the 300m and whether the option existed for him to move to the outside of STREET BYTE (B Sooful) and track MOON JUMPER (N Teeha) into the race. Jockey J Allyhosain explained to the Stewards that his instructions were that this was a young horse therefore, he was to jump, obtain a position where this gelding was comfortable and not race wide in the running. Accordingly, after sitting three back on the rail and assessing that for a lower division race, it had been run at a reasonable pace and that MOON JUMPER (N Teeha) had done all the work outside the leader, he elected, rather than to move wide around STREET BYTE (B Sooful), to sit in and wait for a run in the straight either on the inside, which he was anticipating after STREET BYTE (B Sooful) rolled out momentarily at the turn, or if necessary, on the outside of STREET BYTE (B Sooful). Jockey J Allyhosain further added in relation to the Stewards’ queries that, from the footage, he did ‘click up’ his horse to stay in touch from the 350m and had ridden his horse prior to entering the straight.
3. Trainer R Maingard appeared before the Stewards and was questioned regarding his riding instructions on HAPPY AND GLORIOUS (J Allyhosain). Trainer R Maingard confirmed the statements of Jockey J Allyhosain in so far as, his instructions and the in the running comments of Jockey J Allyhosain made above were conveyed to him. Trainer R Maingard stated he was satisfied with Jockey J Allyhosain’s ride and that he believed with his instructions, HAPPY AND GLORIOUS which has shown good potential, had a good chance of winning.
4. The Stewards noted and accepted the explanations of Jockey J Allyhosain and Trainer R Maingard.
5. VALERIN (S Rama) raced wide between the 1300m and 1200m. Thereafter, this gelding raced to the lead.
6. MOON JUMPER (N Teeha) was hanging in from the 200m.

Stipes report

Off time: 16h00.53

Starting Reports
1.  GRAND VISION (S Rama) was restless in its stall.
2. IDEAL SECRET (B Sooful) and QUATRO FIVE SIX (J De Souza) lost one length respectively.

Stewards Reports
1. At the 1250m, SEATTLE KID (M P De Oliveira) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of GRAND VISION (S Rama) which rolled in.
2. An inquiry will be opened into Jockey J De Souza riding of QUATRO FIVE SIX in this race.
3. NOIR'S BOY (A Andrews) and BLACKBURN ROC (I Taka) raced wide around the turn and into the straight.
4. An inquiry will be opened into the reason why NOIR'S BOY (A Andrews) had to ease at the 200m.
5. In the concluding stages, BLACKBURN ROC (I Taka) was brushed out by SEATTLE KID (M P De Oliveira) which was carried out and had to ease when awkwardly placed on the outside of GRAND VISION (S Rama) which was hanging out in the straight and shifted out away from the whip from the 100m. Thereafter, BLACKBURN ROC (I Taka) was bumped out by GRAND VISION (S Rama) which continued to shift out. A race review was called into this incident which was followed by an objection being lodged by the Trainer (C Daby) of the third placed horse (SEATTLE KID) against the second placed horse (BLACKBURN ROC) and the first placed horse (GRAND VISION) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. Additionally, a second objection was lodged by the Trainer (S Mahadia) of the second placed horse (BLACKBURN ROC) against the first placed horse (GRAND VISION) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence, the Board overruled both objections. In arriving at this conclusion, the Board took into consideration the proximity of the interference to the finish, the distance between the three horses at the finish, the visual momentum of SEATTLE KID (M P De Oliveira) and BLACKBURN ROC (I Taka) prior to and after the interference in question, that Jockey S Rama had not ridden his mount to the end of the race and had in fact drew away when corrected. Additionally, the Board considered for the objection of the second placed versus the first placed that due to the proximity of this incident to the finish, the prejudice suffered and whether if quantified, the Board could say for certain in its mind that BLACKBURN ROC (I Taka) would have finished ahead of GRAND VISION (S Rama). When balancing each of these factors, the Board could not establish from the patrol films of the race that but for the aforementioned interference, SEATTLE KID (M P De Oliveira) would have finished ahead of BLACKBURN ROC (I Taka) and GRAND VISION (S Rama) and that BLACKBURN ROC (I Taka) would have finished ahead of GRAND VISION (S Rama). Therefore, it overruled the objections and allowed the judge’s result to stand.
6. An inquiry has been opened into Jockey S Rama’s riding in this race.
