BORYA had travelled wide at the home turn, covering extra ground, considering the short verdict between SAND PATH, placed 2nd, and BORYA, placed 3rd. The Jockey had explained that he had commenced to ride his horse from 500m and he had made up his mind to ride from the outside of SOCKEROO as there was not much room on the inside of SOCKEROO at about 450m and he let his horse run in the same momentum. The video footage showed that SOCKEROO was leaning in near 400m and there being no room on its inside, hence the option available to Jockey R Joorawon was to ride from the outside of SOCKEROO and at this stage, he became close on the heels of SOCKEROO and could not have switched to the inside of SOCKEROO. The Stewards decided not to take any action in the matter. Veterinary Surgeon’s Report 1. MASSIMO – Bled both nostrils, 30 days suspension confirmed. 2. SAND PATH – No abnormalities detected.
