Prior to the start, HARDFALLINGRAIN (S Rama) and SIEGE RAM (A Roy) rushed the gates causing their respective gates to open prematurely. HARDFALLINGRAIN (S Rama) was apprehended near 1300m and brought back to the start. In the meanwhile, all the horses that were loaded, were unloaded. The Veterinary Surgeon examined HARDFALLINGRAIN and passed the horse fit to race. The horses were loaded again. This caused delay in the start of this race. 2. HARDFALLINGRAIN (S Rama) proved difficult to settle between the 1200m and 900m. While attempting to settle HARDFALLINGRAIN (S Rama), the horse shifted in near the 1000m and caused SIEGE RAM (A Roy) to be eased off the heels of the former and shift out at that stage. 3. HOLLOW POINT (L Goomany) hung in, in the straight and in trying to correct his horse, Jockey L Goomany lost his left rein near 150m. The horse was referred to the Veterinary Surgeon. 4. In the concluding stages of the race, HOLLOW POINT (L Goomany) hung in and was placed awkwardly behind the heels of HARDFALLINGRAIN (S Rama) and was steadied. 5. An inquiry was opened into the 3.0 kg allowance claimed by App A Roy (SIEGE RAM) while weighing-out in this race. App A Roy was interviewed by the Stewards on 18th October 2022 at the Office of the Horse Racing Division. After considering the submissions made by App A Roy, he was found in breach of Rule 104 (b) of the Rules of Racing and consequently, a penalty of suspension from riding in races with effect from 24th Oct 22 up to 05th November 2022 (both days inclusive), covering a period of two Race Meetings, was imposed on him. App A Roy was reminded of his right to Appeal against this decision. 6. Further, the Stewards decided not to disqualify SIEGE RAM from its 3rd Place as declared by the Judge. 7. App A Roy was advised that he would be eligible to Claim an Allowance of 2.0 kg henceforth. Veterinary Surgeon’s Report 1. HOLLOW POINT – No abnormalities detected.

Rescheduled time: NIL Starting time: 13h05.43 Stewards’ Reports 1. Jockey R Joorawon (JET PATH) carried 0.5kg over the carded weight and weighed out at 55kg. Jockey S Rama (MISTY ROLLER) carried 0.5kg over the carded weight and weighed out at 52.5kg. 2. At the start, JET PATH (R Joorawon) knuckled under and began awkwardly. 3. At the start, ITALIAN WAY (D Schwarz) was restless in its stall and fly jumped, unbalancing the Jockey, who also lost his left stirrup, and shifted out, and ITALIAN WAY jostled with BIG SMOKE (N Teeha) who was carried outwards for a few strides. Jockey D Schwarz regained and adjusted his stirrup near 1465m. 4. Subsequently, Trainer V Allet and Jockey D Schwarz viewed the replay of the start. Jockey D Schwarz when questioned confirmed that his horse was eager to jump but when the gates opened, the horse took a fly jump, shifted outwards and jostled with BIG SMOKE (N Teeha). Jockey D Schwarz also advised that there was no external factor impacting the start of his horse on equal terms with other horses but the behaviour of his own horse. 5. After deliberations, the Stewards deemed ITALIAN WAY a runner in terms of rule 185 (f) of the Rules of racing, since the incident was due to the horse’s own behaviour. 6. In view of this behaviour of ITALIAN WAY, the horse has been suspended for seven (07) days after which, it will be required to pass a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. At the start, NEW ABBEY (A L Da Silva) shifted in and tightened ELMO (J Allyhosain) onto ROMANUS (S Rama) who was steadied when placed behind the heels of WHIPPING BOY (I Taka). 2. Jockey A L Da Silva (NEW ABBEY) lost his whip near 100m and this being the second instance of him losing his whip, he has been fined MUR 2000 under rule 147A (a) (ii) of the Rules of Racing. Near the 600m, GO JEWEL (D Schwarz) was inconvenienced while racing on the inside of RON'S JOY (J De Souza). 4. Jockey A Andrews (LIQUID) reported that the horse was pulling during the race. Subsequently, Trainer S Mahadia viewed the replay of the start. The Stewards deemed FREEDOM OF SPEECH a runner in terms of rule 185 (f) of the Rules of Racing since the incident was due to the horse’s own behaviour. 2. In view of this behaviour of FREEDOM OF SPEECH, it has been suspended for seven (07) days after which, it will be required to pass a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. 3. At the start, SILKEN PRINCE (A L Da Silva) shifted out causing KING OF TARA (D Schwarz) to shift out further on to KAROO LARK (J Allyhosain). Veterinary Surgeon’s Report 1. Prior to the start of the race, Trainer S Mahadia advised the Stewards that he would like to change the racing tactics for JAY’S DANCER and the Jockey will try to “lead” this time. A Public announcement was made to his effect. 2. At the start, ROCK THE NIGHT (I Taka) and NAMIB DESERT (A L Da Silva) brushed. 3. At the start, CARLAS MAMBO (J Allyhosain) was sluggish in the early part of the race and trailed the field until 400m. 4. WARRIOR CAPTAIN (N Teeha) proved difficult to be settled between 1300m and 1000m. 5. Near 1200m, BOLD PHOENIX (A Andrews) was steadied off the heels of SPRY (L Goomany) and then JUNIPER LANE (J De Souza) as both the horses shifted across. WARRIOR CAPTAIN (N Teeha) lugged in during the running and brushed the rails approaching the 800m. 6. Jockey J De Souza (JUNIPER LANE) lost his whip near 50m from the Winning Post.
