The start of this race was delayed due to SPECIAL FORCE (S Rama) proving intractable proceeding to the start, being intractable behind the starting stalls and subsequently being scratched and removed off the course. Starting Reports 1. NORTHERN REBEL (S Bhundoo) and SLIGHTLY SCOTTISH (M Rashpassing) came together and brushed. Stewards Reports 1. Prior to the running of the race, Trainer A Sewdyal advised the Stewards that ARTAX (J Da Silva) would be ridden aggressively from the jump with the intent to lead. 2. In view of the above report, SPECIAL FORCE (S Rama) has been suspended from racing seven days and until proving tractable proceeding to the start, behaving tractably behind the starting stalls and jumping out the gates. 3. SLIGHTLY SCOTTISH (M Rashpassing) raced with an awkward inward head carriage in the straight. 4. Jockey S Bhundoo (NORTHERN REBEL) appeared before the Stewards, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised to ride his mounts out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards so as to leave no room for query. In assessing what sanction to give to this matter, the Stewards noted that Jockey S Bhundoo had fortuitously held his position at the finish and therefore a reprimand was issued. Scratching 1. Starting Reports 1. ILLICIT KISS (A L Da Silva), DESERT BOY (J Allyhosain), COUP FOR LUTE (R Joorawon) and TICKET TO CAIRO (S Rama) made contact after leaving the gates. Stewards Reports 1. Trainer S P Nagadoo appeared before the Stewards and advised them that, contrary to TICKET TO CAIRO’s (S Rama) last run, this gelding would seek cover from the jump, preferably behind DESERT BOY (J Allyhosain). 2. At the 1200m, ILLICIT KISS (A L Da Silva) was carried out by DESERT BOY whose Jockey, J Allyhosain, lost his left side stirrup iron leaving the gates and which iron he only regained approaching the 1100m. 3. TIGER'S ROCK (M Rashpassing) raced detached in the early stages. 4. At the 350m, TICKET TO CAIRO (S Rama) was tightened for galloping room when awkwardly placed on the inside of ILLICIT KISS (A L Da Silva) which was hanging in from the 400m. 5. TICKET TO CAIRO (S Rama) was hanging out from the 300m. 6. Jockey J Allyhosain (DESERT BOY) appeared before the Stewards and was questioned regarding his riding in the straight. In this regard, Jockey J Allyhosain explained that DESERT BOY hung out in the straight and therefore, he elected to use his whip in his less accomplished left hand, which resulted in the horse shifting in away from the whip and his riding looking visually different to his norm. After reviewing the patrol films of this incident, the Stewards have accepted Jockey Allyhosain’s explanation. 7. Jockey A L Da Silva (ILLICIT KISS) appeared before the Stewards and was afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which, in his opinion, contributed to this horse performing below market expectations. In this regard, he explained that ILLICIT KISS (A L Da Silva), was up in class, higher in the weights and today could not find the comfortable lead that he had in his previous runs. He further explained that after being unable to secure the lead, he was of the view that his positioning outside DESERT BOY (J Allyhosain) was not advantageous to his horse in the running and that his mount was impacted by TICKET TO CAIRO’s (S Rama) and DESERT BOY’s (J Allyhosain) movements. 8. In view of the performance of ILLICIT KISS (A L Da Silva), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Scratching 1. None Veterinary Surgeon Report 1. Starting Reports 1. BELLAGIO KING (J Bardottier) was squeezed out at the start. Stewards Reports 1. Leaving the 1300m, LOCK DOWN (L Goomany) struck the inside running rail. As a consequence of this incident, Jockey L Goomany’s right side stirrup iron broke, which resulted in him becoming severely unbalanced and being unable to fully assist LOCK DOWN for the remainder of the race. Upon returning to the unsaddling enclosure, a member of the Stipendiary Stewards inspected Jockey L Goomany’s saddle and found it to be in good order. Subsequently, the broken piece of Jockey L Goomany’s saddle was located, examined by the Stipendiary Stewards who concluded that this was a legitimate break. An inquiry will be opened in order to establish why LOCK DOWN (L Goomany) and UNBELIEVABLE LAD (J Da Silva) were tightened for galloping room at the 1300m. 2. JACALAC (B Fayd'herbe) shifted out away from the whip at the 200m. 3. BELIEVEINTHEFUTURE (A L Da Silva) switched in to continue its run at the 150m. 4. Jockey J Bardottier reported that BELLAGIO KING changed stride continually in the running. Jockey J Bardottier appeared before the Stewards and was reminded of his obligations to report all circumstances which may have affected his horse in the running. JET STREAM (J Da Silva) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. 4. From the 100m to the finish, HIGH KEY (J Allyhosain) which was hanging in, in the straight, proving difficult to assist, had to ease severely when awkwardly placed on the heels of POP ICON (S Rama). This resulted in Jockey J Allyhosain being unable to assist this gelding to the end of the race. Jockey J Allyhosain appeared before the Stewards and was questioned with regards to his ride in the concluding stages. In thisregard, he explained that notwithstanding his efforts, HIGH KEY refused to leave the rail. Jockey J Allyhosain was further of the view that had he obtained clear running to the finish, he would have won the race. The Stewards noted and accepted the explanations of Jockey J Allyhosain. General 1. The start of this race was delayed due to MASTER OF ILLUSION (J Bardottier) slipping its bridle and the People’s Turf Plc Ltd’s public announcement system going down. Starting Reports 1. CARBON FIBRE (S Rama) was restless in the stalls. 2. HUYSSTEEN (N S Batchameah) lost many lengths. Stewards Reports 1. In view of the Starting Report, the starting stall certificate for HUYSSTEEN (N S Batchameah) has been withdrawn. This gelding has been suspended by the Stewards for thirty days after which, it will be required to complete a jump out in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. 2. At the 1300m, CREATION (R Joorawon) and CULTURE TRIP (D Bheekary) were tightened for galloping room when awkwardly placed on the inside of MASTER OF ILLUSION (J Bardottier) and GUNSTON (A L Da Silva). An inquiry has been opened into this incident. At an Inquiry held at the offices of the HRD on 23 November 2022, Jockey A L Da Silva was charged with a contravention of Rule 208 (d). Jockey Da Silva pleaded not guilty to the charge however, was found guilty as charged. A penalty of a suspension from riding in races for four (4) race meetings was imposed. Suspension date: 29 November 2022 – 17 December 2022. Jockey Da Silva has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed. 3. Leaving the 1200m, CULTURE TRIP (D Bheekary) which raced fiercely in the early and middle stages, had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of GUNSTON (A L Da Silva). Thereafter, approaching the 1000m, CREATION (R Joorawon) clipped the heels of CULTURE TRIP when the latter’s Jockey attempted to settle his mount. 4. At the 800m, CARBON FIBRE (S Rama) was carried out by CREATION (R Joorawon) which shifted out when racing onto heels. 5. Translator B Ferreira appeared before the Stewards in order to assist Jockey A L Da Silva who was being questioned. During the course of this interaction, she demonstrated poor boardroom etiquette and conduct. Ms B Ferreira was issued with a severe reprimand by the Stewards. Scratching 1. Thereafter, the saddle of TRIPPI'S EXPRESS was delayed arriving at the weighing room after the race due to this horse undergoing veterinary treatment. The saddle was subsequently collected by the race day official, Mr. R Rawa and was handed over to the Jockey in the paddock. Thereafter, Jockey A L Da Silva weighed back in and his weight was passed correct by the Clerk of Scales. 4. Jockey S Rama reported there was something amiss with STOPALLTHECLOCKS in the running. The information was disseminated to the public. 2. A race review was called into the start of this race pertaining to WELL CONNECTED (B Fayd'herbe) drawn in stall 2. In this regard, it was established that as the start was effected, WELL CONNECTED (B Fayd'herbe) became fractious in the stalls. The Stewards were of the view that any distance lost by this gelding was as a consequence of its own behaviour, therefore no further action was taken and WELL CONNECTED was deemed to be a runner. 3. In view of the Starting Report, the starting stall certificate for CRIMSON GOD (J Da Silva) and WELL CONNECTED (B Fayd'herbe) have been withdrawn. These geldings have been suspended by the Stewards for seven days respectively after which, they will be required to complete a jump out in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. 4. NAO FAZ MAL (M Sonaram) overraced in the early and middle stages of the race. 5. KING OF COLTS (A L Da Silva) overraced between the 1200m and 900m. Thereafter, this gelding hung in from the 200m. 6. STRAIGHT (N S Batchameah) and KING OF COLTS (A L Da Silva) raced wide from the 400m and entering the straight. 7. An inquiry has been opened into why KING OF COLTS (A L Da Silva) had to ease at approximately the 200m. 8. VOLATILE ENERGY (A Roy) hung in from the 200m. 9. Apprentice A Roy (VOLATILE ENERGY) was issued with a reprimand for the loss of his whip at the start. 10.
