1. Prior to this race, Trainer A Sewdyal advised the Stipendiary Stewards that M Sonaram (SMUTS) was instructed to ride his mount early in order to obtain a more forward position than in its previous run. This change of tactic was disseminated to the public.
2. SMUTS (M Sonaram) over-raced in the early stages of the race. Thereafter, this gelding was hanging in, in the straight.
3. CHESTNUT COVE (G D Aucharuz) raced wide around the turn and into the straight.
4. At the 300m, WALNUT (K Ramsamy) had to ease severely when awkwardly placed on the inside of THE HITMAN (N Teeha) which shifted in after showing a tendency to hang in. As a consequence of this incident, MR LIVINGSTON (A Roy), which was awkwardly placed on the heels of WALNUT (K Ramsamy), had to ease sharply. An inquiry has been opened into this incident.
5. THE HITMAN (N Teeha) was hanging in, in the straight.
6. GONTRAVELIN (I Taka) was hanging in between the 250m and the 100m.

1. TIGER'S BOND (M Sonaram) jumped slowly and refused to gallop.

Stewards Reports
1. In view of the Starting Report, the starting stall certificate for TIGER'S BOND (M Sonaram) has been withdrawn. This gelding has been suspended by the Stewards for thirty (30) days after which, it will be required to complete a jump out in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
2. THE GYPSY KING (I Taka) over-raced in the early stages.
3. At the 1350m, NIGHTINGALE LANE (R Joorawon) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of MIDNIGHT ORACLE (J Bardottier), which rolled in.
4. JET PATH (B Sooful) was ridden aggressively from its draw (10) in order to obtain the position outside the leader at the 1300m.
5. NIGHTINGALE LANE (R Joorawon) shifted out into a three deep running line at the 450m, raced wide around the turn and into the straight. Thereafter, this gelding was hanging in from the 250m.
6. MIDNIGHT ORACLE (J Bardottier) raced wide around the turn and into the straight.
7. BYPASS (A Roy) hung in from the 150m.
8. Jockey G D Aucharuz (CRUSHING FORCE) reported that his horse was not striding out in the running and hence did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
9. Trainer C Daby and Jockey S Rama appeared before the Stewards and were questioned regarding the improved performance of MISTY ROLLER. In this regard, Trainer C Daby explained that this horse had not been far from other runners in 0-15 in its previous runs, and that this was the third time that this gelding had won in December, and hypothesised that perhaps MISTY ROLLER runs best during this time of the year. The Stipendiary Stewards noted the explanations of Trainer C Daby.
10. Jockey J Bardottier reported that MIDNIGHT ORACLE changed stride continually in the running. In view of the performance of this horse, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.

1. Trainer S Narang appeared before the Stipendiary Stewards and was questioned regarding his tactics on MANETHEREN (A Roy). In this regard, he explained that it was his intent as with MANETHEREN’s last run, to lead. This information was disseminated to the public.
2. MOSCHINO (D Schwarz) lost one length, was slow into stride and had to be ridden early to keep in touch with the field.
3. LEMON DROP SHOT (N Teeha) was ridden aggressively from the jump in order to obtain the position outside the leader.
4. ARNHEM LAND (S Rama) was held up for a clear run between the 350m and the 300m. Thereafter, this gelding was switched out to obtain a clear run at the 250m and was hanging in from the 200m.
5. At the 300m, DUKE'S DOMAIN (M Sonaram) was held up for clear run. Thereafter, DUKE'S DOMAIN shifted out away from whip in the concluding stages, which resulted in this gelding becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of LEMON DROP SHOT (N Teeha). As a consequence of this incident, Apprentice M Sonaram was briefly prejudiced whilst riding DUKE'S DOMAIN to the finish. Apprentice M Sonaram appeared before the Stipendiary Stewards, was shown the patrol films and advised to take stronger corrective measures in order to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.
6. Approaching the 400m, POP ICON (I Taka) shifted into a three deep running line in order to obtain clear running.
7. In view of the performance of MOSCHINO (D Schwarz), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
8. Jockey D Schwarz (MOSCHINO) appeared before the Stipendiary Stewards and was issued with a reprimand regarding his whip use in this race.
9. Apprentice M Sonaram (DUKE'S DOMAIN) was advised against the practice of raising his arm above the shoulder height when using the whip.

2. BELLAGIO KING (K Ramsamy) raced wide on the course at the 350m. Thereafter, BELLAGIO KING shifted in away from the whip from the 200m. An inquiry has been opened into Jockey K Ramsamy’s riding in this race.
3. At the 200m, Jockey D Bheekary (SYDS LIASON) lost his right-side rein, which he was only able to regain shortly before the finish.
4. SENOR DON (M Sonaram) raced wide between the 1300m and the 1100m. Thereafter, SENOR DON (M Sonaram) switched out to continue its run at the 200m and showed a tendency to lay in, in the straight.
5. Into the first turn, DO OR DARE (G D Aucharuz) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of VOLATILE ENERGY (A Roy), which was ridden aggressively in order to obtain the lead. As a consequence of this incident, OXFORD BLUE (R Joorawon) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of DO OR DARE at approximately the 1250m.
6. Between the 1100m and 1000m, DO OR DARE (G D Aucharuz) had to be restrained off heels on at least two occasions.
7. OXFORD BLUE (R Joorawon) hung in from the 200m.
8. At the 150m, Apprentice A Roy briefly dropped his left side rein, which resulted in him being unable to assist VOLATILE ENERGY momentarily.

Jockey J Da Silva signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 147(6)(a)(i) and Rule 147(5)(a) in that he struck the horse ALASKAN NIGHT with his whip more than once on consecutive strides in the running, and he used his whip down the shoulder of the horse, whilst in the drawn position. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of Rs 3,000 was imposed.
6. Jockey G D Aucharuz signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 147(6)(a)(i) in that he struck the horse ACTION PACKED with his whip more than once on consecutive strides in the running. After considering Jockey G D Aucharuz’s poor record in relation to this rule, a penalty of a suspension of two race meetings was imposed.

Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of Rs 2,000 was imposed.
4. CRAZY CHARLIE (A Roy) was hanging in, in the straight.
5. Jockey M Rashpassing (KINGSMAN) appeared before the Stipendiary Stewards and was questioned regarding the tactics used on KINGSMAN in this race, that is, to lead. In this regard, he explained that after jumping well, he elected to commit to obtain the lead as it was his view that after such a jump, this was this gelding’s best chance of winning. Trainer K Ramanah will be questioned with regards to the tactics on this horse.
