LUNAFACATION (I Taka) overraced in the early stages and took an awkward stride at the 1700m. 3. MOSCHINO (D Schwarz) raced detached from the field in the early stages. 4. At the 1300m, LEMON DROP SHOT (S Rama) which overraced in the early stages, elected to race around the field and to the lead at the 1100m. Thereafter, at the 200m, LEMON DROP SHOT was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of LUNAFACATION (I Taka) which shifted in away from the whip. 5. Entering the straight, MOSCHINO (D Schwarz) was carried out by SNOWY MOUNTAIN (M Sonaram) which shifted out around the turn. Thereafter, at the 250m, MOSCHINO which made a marginal movement in, was bumped out by SNOWY MOUNTAIN which shifted out away from the whip. Subsequently, for the remainder of the straight, MOSCHINO was brushed out and carried out on multiple occasions by SNOWY MOUNTAIN which shifted out. A member of the Stipendiary Stewards called a race review into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by a Stipendiary Steward on behalf of the fourth placed horse (MOSCHINO) against the third placed horse (SNOWY MOUNTAIN) on the grounds of interference in the straight. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Stewards upheld the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Stewards considered the extent of the interference and significant distance over which this incident occurred, the distance between the horses (0.3 lengths) at the finish and that from the patrol films of the race, it appeared that on each occasion that MOSCHINO was about to move forward and definitively race past SNOWY MOUNTAIN, it was interfered with by the movement of SNOWY MOUNTAIN. Consequently, the Stewards were satisfied that but for the above incident, MOSCHINO would have finished ahead of SNOWY MOUNTAIN (M Sonaram), therefore the Stewards upheld the objection and amended the Judge’s result from 4x6x7x8 to 4x6x8x7.
