General 1. The start of this race was delayed due to the saddle of DIGITAL FORTRESS (A.Roy) being refitted.
Starting Reports 1. CAROLINA REAPER (N. Marday) lost one length. 2. DIGITAL FORTRESS (A. Roy) was brushed out by CHIEF RAFEEF (M. Sonaram) which jumped out. Additionally, both horses lost one length, respectively. Stewards Reports 1. Apprentice M. Sonaram appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his riding of CHIEF RAFEEF in this race. In this regard, his attention was specifically drawn to his lack of urgency in the early stages of the race and his riding motion between the 450m and the 350m. Apprentice M. Sonaram explained to the Board that his riding instructions were to jump and maintain contact with the leader, preferably on the rail. Consequently, after jumping poorly, he rode his horse forward and after being unable to secure a position behind the leader, he elected to race on its outside without cover. Passing the 450m, he explained that CHIEF RAFEEF was not travelling as well as it could have been and therefore, he elected to bounce in the saddle to get his horse to take the bit and improve. Trainer S. Hurchund, appeared before the Board and confirmed the statements of Apprentice M. Sonaram in so far as it related to him and his horse. The Board noted the explanations of both Apprentice M. Sonaram and Trainer S. Hurchund.

General 1. The start of this race was delayed due to delay in the previous race and SHESH BESH (M. Sonaram) being examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.
Starting Report 1. GENERAL JACKSON (A. Roy) lost two lengths.
Stewards Reports 1. SHESH BESH (M. Sonaram) was squeezed shortly after the start. Thereafter, SHESH BESH (M. Sonaram) raced detached from the field throughout. Upon return to the scales, Apprentice M. Sonaram reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in the running. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 2. An inquiry will be opened into why SIEGE RAM (I. Taka), BETATHANTHEREST (C. Goolgar) and CAPKUTA (R. Kulloo) had to ease approaching the 1200m.
3. BETATHANTHEREST (C. Goolgar) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. 4. In the concluding stages, DOUBLETHINK (N. Batchameah), shifted out away from the whip. 5. In the concluding stages, LOCK DOWN (B. Ecroignard) was carried in by SIEGE RAM (I. Taka) which was carried in by BETATHANTHEREST (C. Goolgar) which was hanging in from the 250m. A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Mr. R. Maingard, the Trainer of the second placed horse (LOCK DOWN), against the winner, BETATHANTHEREST (C. Goolgar), on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Objection Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Objection Board considered the distance between LOCK DOWN and BETATHANTHEREST at the finish (0.35 length), the proximity of the incident to the finish, the extent of the interference, that is, the carries were marginal in nature and that, LOCK DOWN had prior to this incident rolled off the rail marginally, therefore, after being carried in marginally by SIEGE RAM, the inconvenience incurred was brief and mitigated by the room created by the earlier move. Additionally, from a viewing of the patrol films and in particular the side angle, the Stipendiary Stewards could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, LOCK DOWN (B. Ecroignard) would have finished ahead of BETATHANTHEREST (C. Goolgar). Therefore, the Objection Board overruled the objection and allowed the judge’s result to stand. 6. In view of the performance of CAPKUTA (R. Kulloo), the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine.
Racecard Changes 1. None.
Scratching 1. None.
Veterinary Surgeon Report 1. CAPKUTA - No abnormalities detected. 2. SHESH BESH - No abnormalities detected
Sectional time: 15.61-13.45-12.69-12.71-12.29-11.48-26.27
General 1. Prior to the running of this race, Trainer P Nagadoo advised the Board that EAGLES VISION (N. Batchameah) will race with cover today and not test for the lead. The Board noted the tactics on EAGLES VISION and this information was disseminated to the public.
Starting Reports 1. MANETHEREN (G. Aucharuz) jumped in. 2. TAKING SILK (A. Roy) and CASTLE OF GLASS (B. Fayd'herbe) came together and brushed, after CASTLE OF GLASS (B. Fayd'herbe) was brushed in by EAGLES VISION (N. Batchameah), which jumped in.
Stewards Reports 1. TAKING SILK (A. Roy) was carried out by ARLINGTONS REVENGE (R. Joorawon) at the 300m. As a consequence of this incident, TAKING SILK raced wide into the straight. 2. In the concluding stages, EAGLES VISION (N. Batchameah) had to switch out when awkwardly placed on the inside of CASTLE OF GLASS (B. Fayd’herbe) which shifted in. Thereafter, shortly before the finish, EAGLES VISION had to ease and could not be ridden to the end of the race when awkwardly placed between ARLINGTONS REVENGE (R. Joorawon) and CASTLE OF GLASS (B. Fayd'herbe) which shifted out. A race review was called into these incidents, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Apprentice N. Batchameah, the rider of the third placed horse (EAGLES
VISION) against the second placed (CASTLE OF GLASS) and first placed (ARLINGTONS REVENGE), on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Objection Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Objection Board considered that at the time of EAGLES VISION’s initial switch out, this gelding had not established his running on the inside of CASTLE OF GLASS, that the subsequent incident before the finish was very close to the winning post and that at the time that CASTLE OF GLASS shifts out shortly before the finish, EAGLES VISION itself was still moving out and unbalanced from its initial switch therefore playing a contributory role to the incident. Additionally, it simply could not be definitively established from the footage that but for, the above incident, EAGLES VISION (N. Batchameah) would have finished ahead of ARLINGTONS REVENGE (R. Joorawon) and CASTLE OF GLASS (B. Fayd'herbe). In respect of ARLINGTONS REVENGE, despite his movement in, it could not be established that this gelding played a material role in the incident. Therefore, the Objection Board overruled the objection and allowed the judge’s result to stand. 3. An inquiry will be opened into Jockey B. Fayd'herbe’s riding of CASTLE OF GLASS in the home straight. 4. An inquiry will be opened into Jockey R. Joorawon’s whip use in this race.
