1. DOUBLETHINK (D. David) which raced fiercely in the early stages, failed to negotiate the turn leaving the 1300m and raced wide between the 1250m and the 600m. Thereafter, this gelding raced around the field and to the front at the 800m and shifted out away from the whip at the 150m. Jockey D. David appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his instructions on DOUBLETHINK. In this regard, he explained that his instructions were not to bounce this gelding as he has a tendency to overrace. Accordingly, after jumping well, he attempted to obtain a good early position, however, there were 2 horses on his inside, therefore, he was trapped wide. Thereafter, his horse commenced to overrace severely, which prejudiced him from assisting it around the turn and resulting in this horse racing wide. Trainer S. Accordingly, he did not want to cut pace with  BELLA FIORINO and elected to take a trail. Additionally, Apprentice B. Ecroignard reported that AFRICAN FATE had shown a tendency to hang in, in the early part of the race and this prejudiced his opportunity to allow this horse to stride forward as, AFRICAN FATE required correcting. The Board noted the explanations of both Apprentice B. Ecroignard and Assistant Trainer J. Awotar.
