General 1. Prior to the commencement of this race, the instructions for all riders were taken by the Stipendiary Stewards. In this regard, each of the instructions matched the racing pattern of the horses.

Shortly after the start, BATTERY PATH (K. Bhageeruthy) had to ease when awakwardly placed on the outside of HONOKALANI (B. Ecroignard), which rolled out after making contact with WALKING ON WINGS (C. Goolgar) at the start. 2. HONOKALANI (B. Ecroignard) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. Thereafter, this gelding was hanging in, in the straight. 3. At the 350m, DOUBLETHINK (M. Sonaram), which raced wide through the running, was carried out by WALKING ON WINGS (C. Goolgar), which shifted out. Thereafter, DOUBLETHINK shifted out gradually in the straight. Apprentice M. Sonaram (DOUBLETHINK) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised against the practice of using his whip above shoulder height. Apprentice M. Sonaram was issued with a warning. 4. RAVISHING RAMBO (R. Kulloo) was hanging in, in the straight, proving difficult to assist. 5. Apprentice C. Goolgar signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rules 29.2.5 and 29.2.7, in that he struck the horse WALKING ON WINGS with his whip more than once on consecutive strides in the running. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of Rs 3,000 was imposed.
6. Jockey M. Rashpassing (EPISTOLA) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised against the practice of using his whip more than once on consecutive strides in the running. Jockey M. Rashpassing was issued with a warning.

Batchameah), which was drawn alongside DIGITAL FORTRESS (V. Bundhoo), was also examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race 3. ROCHESTER (N. Marday) fly jumped leaving the stalls and was squeezed out. 4. CONSTITUTIONAL (J. Bardottier) lost one length.
Stewards Reports 1. In view of the Starting Report, the starting stall certificate for DIGITAL FORTRESS (V. Bundhoo) has been withdrawn. This gelding has been suspended by the Stewards for seven
days after which, it will be required to complete a jump out in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
2.From its wide draw, SPECIAL FORCE (N. Batchameah) was restrained into a rearward position after the jump 3. CONSTITUTIONAL ( J. Bardottier) raced wide in the early stages. An inquiry will be opened into Jockey J. Bardottier’s riding in this race.
4. At the 1300m, SPECIAL FORCE (N. Batchameah) briefly raced wide when carried out by ROCHESTER (N. Marday), which was carried out by SUPREME ELEVATION (Y. Mauree), which shifted out when racing onto heels. 5. AFRICAN ROCK (R. Joorawon) took an awkward stride going over the crossing at the 450m. 6. GONNABEALRIGHT (R. Perez) struck the rail going over the crossing at the 450m. Following this incident, Jockey R. Perez was examined by the Course Medical Officer and was stood down with an injured foot. An inquiry has been opened into this incident. 7. At the 350m, SPECIAL FORCE (N. Batchameah) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of a tiring CONSTITUTIONAL (J. Bardottier). 8. SUPREME ELEVATION (Y. Mauree) and ROCHESTER (N. Marday) were hanging in, in the straight. 9. MISTY ROLLER (B. Sooful) was hanging in, from the 250m. 10. In view of the performance of SPECIAL FORCE (N. Batchameah), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 11. Jockey R. Perez (GONNABEALRIGHT) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised against the practice of using his whip down the shoulder of his horse while in the drawn position. Stewards Reports 1. In the straight, BRABANZIO (R. Joorawon) was hanging in, proving difficult to assist. This directly prejudiced this horse’s chances of winning this race as notwithstanding the urgings of Jockey R. Joorawon, this gelding was reluctant to shift out of heels in order to obtain clear running. A review was called into this incident however, after reviewing the footage, no further action was taken. Trainer S. Narang will be advised that the racing manners of this gelding are unacceptable and that corrective action must be taken. 2. CAPTAINOFTHESEA (S. Donohoe) was hanging in from the 200m. 3. DUNZIE (B. Sooful) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. 4. Apprentice N. Batchameah appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the running line adopted on MAURITIUS in the early stages of the race. In this regard, he explained that this gelding has a tendency to lay in, therefore, he did not want to race close to the rail until the 600m bend. The Board noted the explanations of Apprentice N. Batchameah. 5. Jockey I. Chisty appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his riding of STRAIGHT in this race. Jockey I. Chisty’s attention was specifically drawn to whether it was not possible for him to shift STRAIGHT across heels in order to secure the inside running. In this regard he explained that he was unable to shift ground into a different
position due to his proximity to the heels of MAURITIUS (N. Batchameah) and EL PATRON (K. Ramsamy), without causing further prejudice to his horse. Accordingly, he elected to wait for the run to open however, despite the early fast pace of the race, STRAIGHT did not make up any significant ground. The Board noted the explanations of Jockey I. Chisty.

Stewards Reports 1. As the runners were being loaded for the race, there was a technical fault with the switch for the starting stalls, which resulted in the gates opening prematurely. Accordingly, a false start was declared. All runners which jumped were restrained by their respective riders, returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Thereafter, when the horses were being reloaded, JET ORBIT (N. Marday) reared in the stalls and injured Jockey N. Marday. Consequently, this horse was withdrawn due to its intractability and suspended from racing for seven days, until proving tractable proceeding to the start, behaving tractably behind the starting stalls and completing a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Additionally, Jockey N. Marday was examined by the Course Medical Officer and consequently stood down. 2. AFRICAN FATE (S. Donohoe) showed a tendency to lay in throughout. This was particularly prevalent in the straight when this gelding was hanging in and proving particularly difficult to assist. Assistant Trainer J. Awotar (R. Maingard) will be advised that the racing manners of this gelding are unacceptable and that corrective action must be taken. 3. ROYAL VIRTUE (J. Bardottier) raced wide in the early and middle stages. 4. At the 900m, CHIEF RAFEEF (J. Allyhosain) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of THE RIGHT STUFF (B. Sooful), which hung in. 5. Jockey D. Bheekary reported that there was something amiss with ARTAX from the 500m in the running. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 6. AL JAZEERA (M.
