Thereafter, the start of this race was further delayed due to MAJESTIC MOON (G. D. Aucharuz) being scratched after Jockey G. D. Aucharuz reported there to be something amiss with this gelding and NEW ABBEY (I. Taka) becoming fractious in the stalls, bolting the course and subsequently being scratched by the Veterinary Surgeon. MAJESTIC MOON (G. D. Aucharuz) was scratched at 12h45. NEW ABBEY (I. Taka) was scratched at 12h48. All monies invested on MAJESTIC MOON and NEW ABBEY were ordered to be refunded. Fixed odds winning bets were deducted 55 cents per rupee on the face value of the ticket.

Stewards Reports Trainer S. Narang appeared before the Board with respect to the riding instructions for both his runners J. Allyhosain (INTOTHEMYSTIC) and T. Juglall (BELLS APOSTLE) in this race. During the course of his instructions, he informed he Board that he intended to change the racing pattern of BELLS APOSTLE (T. Juglall). In this regard, he explained that this was BELLS APOSTLE (T. Juglall) first run after a significant accident on the track and serious injury. Consequently, he was reluctant to put this gelding under pressure in early part of the race in order to obtain the lead and instructed Jockey T. Juglall to ride his mount where he found it in the running. At the 800m, EDGE OF THE SUN (J. Da Silva) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of BADAWEE (A. Roy) which was ridden aggressively from the start in order to obtain the lead. Between the 250m and 100m, ARCTIC FLYER (B. Sooful) raced in restricted galloping room when awkwardly placed on the inside of EDGE OF THE SUN (J. Da Silva) which rolled out after the crossing and rolled back in marginally thereafter. Jockey B. Sooful (ARCTIC FLYER) appeared before the Board with regard to this incident however, after reviewing the patrol films of the race, was of the view that with available angles, there would be insufficient evidence to sustain any further action. In view of the Starter’s Report, the starting stall certificate for NEW ABBEY (I. Taka) has been withdrawn. This gelding has been suspended by the Stewards for seven days after which, it will be required to complete a jump out in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. After the running of this race, the Riders raised concerns regarding certain inconsistencies in the false rail. In order to investigate the impact of this, the Riders agreed to race with slightly more room from the inside running rail.

Between the 1200m and 1000m, POWER TOWER (J. Allyhosain) overraced. An Inquiry held at the offices of the HRD in Port Louis on 22 June 2022, Jockey J. Allyhossain was charged with a contravention of Rule 208 (j). The particulars of the charge being that, in this race, he failed to ride POWER TOWER out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining 4th position. Jockey Allyhossain pleaded not guilty to the charge, however, after considering the evidence in the matter, the Inquiry Board found him guilty as charged. In deciding the penalty to be imposed the Inquiry Board considered all factors in mitigation and aggravation and imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 2 race meetings. Jockey Allyhossain has the right of appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed. GONTRAVELIN (N. Marday), POWER TOWER (J. Allyhosain), XENON (M. Sonaram), LADDER MAN (O. Fayd’herbe) was carried out by GANG LEADER (J. Da Silva) which refused to settle and shifted out when racing fiercely between the 1400m and 800m. As a consequence of this horse’s behaviour, Jockey J. Da Silva was forced to race around the field from the 1000m and to the lead at the 700m. Thereafter, at the 100m, GANG LEADER (J.
