General 1. Prior to this race, Stable Supervisor U. Nagadoo advised the Board that TOMORROW'S VISION (N. Batchameah) would be ridden in order to obtain the lead, if possible. This tactic change was disseminated to the public.
Starting Reports 1. LORD OF LIGHT (I. Taka) lost three lengths. 2. UNIVERSE BOSS (Y. Mauree) and SOCKEROO (M. Sonaram) lost two lengths, respectively.
Stewards Reports 1. CELESTIAL MAGMA (R. Boutanive) which raced wide in the early stages, was ridden aggressively from the jump and obtained the lead at the 1600m. Thereafter, this gelding overraced in the early and middle stages. In view of the performance of this horse, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 2. UNIVERSE BOSS (Y. Mauree) raced detached throughout. 3. THE HITMAN (C. Goolgar) raced wide in the early stages. Subsequently, at the 1400m, THE HITMAN was carried out by TOMORROW'S VISION (N. Batchameah) which shifted out from the inside to race in a one-off position. Thereafter, at the 1300m, THE HITMAN was shifted in, in order to obtain a position on the rail. 4. LORD OF LIGHT (I. Taka) raced wide from the 500m. 5. OVERDOSE (S. Rama) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. 6. THE HITMAN (C. Goolgar) struck the rail at the 300m. Thereafter, this gelding hung in, in the straight. 7. At the 150m, BELLAGIO KING (V. Bundhoo) had to switch in to continue its run when racing onto the heels of CRIMSON GOD (B. Deenath). 8. Apprentice B. Deenath (CRIMSON GOD) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised against the practice of using his whip down the shoulder of his horse while in the drawn position. Apprentice B. Deenath was issued with a warning.
9. Apprentice I. Taka signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 29.2.13, in that he struck the horse LORD OF LIGHT with the whip more than 7 times before the 150m. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of Rs 2,000 was imposed. 10. Jockey S. Rama (OVERDOSE) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised against the practice of using his whip more than 7 times before the 150m. Jockey S. Rama was issued with a warning. 11. Jockey R. Boutanive signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 29.2.5, in that he struck the horse CELESTIAL MAGMA with his whip more than once on consecutive strides in the running. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of Rs 2,000 was imposed. 12. Apprentice M. Sonaram reported that SOCKEROO made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 13. Jockey S. Bhundoo reported that there was something amiss with SUMMERDALE in the running. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.

1. ITDAWNEDONME (S. Donohoe) lost many lengths. Stewards Reports 1. Approaching the 1400m, ARNICA MONTANA (I. Taka) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of SENOR DON (J. Bardottier). Jockey J. Bardottier signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 43.2.2, in that as the rider of the horse SENOR DON, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ARNICA MONTANA approaching the 1400m. A suspension from riding in races for a period of one race meeting was imposed. 2. AMANDLA (N. Teeha) was ridden aggressively from its deep draw in order to test for the lead. Thereafter, this gelding raced fiercely between the 1300m and the 1100m when being restrained after being unsuccessful in its attempt to acquire the lead. Subsequently, at the 1000m, AMANDLA elected to race around the field and to the lead approaching the 900m. 3. Between the 1300m and the 700m, ARNICA MONTANA (I. Taka) had to be restrained off heels on a number of occasions whilst racing fiercely. As a consequence of this incident, approaching the 700m,ITDAWNEDONME (S. Donohoe) was carried out by MOON JUMPER (S. Bhundoo) which rolled out when awkwardly placed on the heels of ARNICA MONTANA and thereafter, approaching the 600m, CAROLINA REAPER (Y. Mauree) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of MOON JUMPER, which rolled back in. 4. THE JAZZ SINGER (N. Marday) raced wide throughout. 5. ARNICA MONTANA (I. Taka) raced wide from the 400m. 6. At the 200m, Jockey J. Bardottier’s whip became briefly entangled with his reins.
7.Apprentice J. Sophie used his whip down the shoulder of HUDSON RIVER, whilst in the drawn position. An inquiry has been opened.

Stewards Reports 2. From the gates, THE GATEKEEPER (R. Joorawon) jumped first and led in the early strides of the race before being crossed at the 2300m and racing in the position behind the leader. Subsequently, this gelding overraced in the early and middle stages whilst being restrained away from the fast early pace, which resulted in it obtaining the position three back on the inside at the 1900m. At the 900m, Jockey R. Joorawon elected to shift off the inside running rail into a one-off position and brushed with HOLY WARRIOR (D. Bheekary) when awkwardly placed on the inside of ALSHIBAA (C. Segeon). Subsequently, Jockey R. Joorawon tracked ALSHIBAA into the race between the 600m and the 400m before angling his mount outside of ALSHIBAA inside the 400m in order to make its run. At the top off the straight, THE GATEKEEPER struck the front and kicked clear of the field to win easily.
